David Grant has a BSc (Spec. Hons) degree from the University of Rhodesia and an MSc (Mineral Exploration) degree from Rhodes University in South Africa. He has 32 years of exploration and mining geology experience in base metals, precious metals and coal.

He worked for Southern Sphere Mining and Development Company (Pty) Ltd in South Africa for 7 years and for African Selection Trust Exploration (Pty) Ltd for 5 years before the company closed in September 1989.

He founded Applied Geology Services CC in 1989 and has worked on numerous mineral deposit types including hydrothermal gold, Witwatersrand gold, porphyry gold, platinum, nickel and copper associated with igneous rocks, carbonate hosted base metals, uranium, bituminous coal and anthracite. He is a registered Natural Earth Scientist and is a Chartered Geologist verified by the Geological Society, London.
