Mark Austin
has a B.Sc. Hons. in
Geology from the University of Liverpool. He has 32
years of experience in mining and exploration geology
mainly in precious metals.
Mark has 16 years of experience in
the Witwatersrand having worked on the West and East
Rand holding various positions such as Chief Geologist
and Planning Manager of Consolidated Modderfontien
Mines, Chief Geologist Western Areas Gold Mine and
Consulting Geologist Gold Division for JCI.
In addition, Mark has been involved
in exploration in Africa where he has held the position
of Senior Geologist Exploration for Placer Dome, Vice
President Exploration for Mano River Resources
responsible for a feasibility study in a greenstone
deposit in Liberia, Group Geologist for Goldplat Plc,
and CEO Kilimapesa Gold Mine in Kenya.
Mark is a registered Natural
Scientist (SACNASP) and a Fellow of the Geological
Society of South Africa. He is currently serving on the
Steering Committees of Samrec and Samval.
